Potato Porial / Urulai Kizhangu Porial
I am going to give you a simple recipe with potatoes which goes very well with Rice and rotis.
Potato ( Boiled.peeled and cut into small pieces ) – 1 cup
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp (optional)
Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Aniseed/Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
Urad dhal – 1/2 tsp
Asfoetida – 1/4 tsp (optional)
Curry leaves – a few
Garlic (crushed) – 4 flakes
Cumin Powder – 1 tsp
Chilli Powder – 1/2 tsp
salt – as needed.
- In a bowl, add the Potatoes, salt, turmeric powder, cumin powder, chilli powder, mix well and keep aside.
- Heat the oil in a kadai / pan and add the mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Add urad dhal, fennel seeds, curry leaves, garlic, asafoetida and saute till garlic turns golden brown.
- Add the potato mixture, sprinkle little water, mix well and cook for 5 mins in a low flame. Serve hot.
Tastes best with Curd rice and Sambar Rice
