Ingredients :

Potatoes – 400 gms
Tamarind Paste- 2 Tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder – 1 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 Tsp
Salt – to taste

To Grind :

Grated Coconut – 3 Tbsp
Fennel Seeds – 2 tsp
Small Onion – 4 to 5
Tomato – 1/2

For Garnishing :

Mustard seeds or Fennel Seeds – 1/2 Tsp
Curry leaves – a sprig
Oil – 3 to 4 Tbsp

Method

  1. Steam cook the Potatoes, peel and cut them into Cubes.
  2. Grind the ingredients listed under ‘to grind’ to a semi coarse paste without adding water (anyway onions and tomato will let out water by itself).
  3. In a mixing bowl add Tamarind paste, turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powders, Ginger Garlic Paste, salt , Ground Paste along with the potatoes.
  4. Marinate for 10 mins.
  5. Heat a shallow pan / Tawa with the oil , add the Fennel seeds and curry leaves.
  6. Then add the marinated Potatoes.cook till it turns brown.
