Angel food cake is a type of sponge cake originated in United States. This incredibly light cake is made of egg whites, no butter and no oil.. means fatless,, Yay! Its so tender, airy and tastes divine.
This cake should be cut with a serrated knife, as a straight-edged blade tends to compress the cake rather than slice it.
The original recipe calls for the cream of tartar to stabilise the Egg whites. But I substituted it with white vinegar as it is very difficult to find here in India. The result would be the same. I like it plain but you can use whatever toppings you like.
1 cup of Cake Flour
1 ½ cups of Granulated Sugar
1 tsp of white vinegar
1 ½ tsp of Vanilla Extract
½ tsp of Almond Extract
¼ tsp of Salt
